Find a surveyor for your property

Tell us about the property and the survey you need. We’ll review your request and, where suitable participating surveyors are available, invite them to provide a quote.

Submit your survey request

Submitting a request does not guarantee a surveyor invitation, quote or introduction.

A manually reviewed marketplace

FindTheSurveyor is a marketplace. It does not carry out surveys and it is not a public directory of surveyors.

Once the requester’s email has been verified, an administrator manually reviews the request. Where suitable participating surveyors are available, the administrator may invite them manually to consider the request. There is no automatic matching.

If FindTheSurveyor cannot currently assist, the customer is told clearly. An invitation excludes the customer’s name, email address, phone number and unnecessary personal information. It contains only the restricted information needed to consider the work.

Choose the service you need

If you are deciding between the two RICS Home Survey levels, compare Level 2 and Level 3 Home Surveys before submitting your request. You can also explain in the form that you are not sure which survey to request.

If a surveyor provides a quote

Any quote received is presented to the customer for consideration. It may state the firm, relevant designation, price, VAT treatment, scope, exclusions, availability and validity. Customer and surveyor contact details remain private throughout quote collection. FindTheSurveyor does not guarantee that a request will receive a quote or that more than one surveyor will respond.

If the customer wants to proceed with a quote, the customer replies to a FindTheSurveyor email and requests an introduction to the surveyor associated with that quote. A mutual introduction is made only where the surveyor has already agreed that their business contact details may be shared if selected.

During beta, FindTheSurveyor charges neither the customer nor the surveyor an introduction fee. No retrospective fee applies to an introduction made during beta.

After an introduction, the customer decides whether to contract with the surveyor. The service, terms and fee are agreed directly between you and the surveyor, and you pay the surveyor directly. FindTheSurveyor is not a party to that surveying contract.

How qualifications are described

Participating surveyors may hold different relevant qualifications or professional memberships. FindTheSurveyor records the exact evidence supplied and keeps the qualification or membership separate from the services declared by the surveyor.

RICS identifies AssocRICS as Associate membership, MRICS as Chartered Member and FRICS as Fellow. Its membership guidance explains that MRICS or FRICS gives the right to use the Chartered Surveyor title. FindTheSurveyor records those designations separately. Only an individual whose current MRICS or FRICS status has been verified is described here as a chartered surveyor.

A documentary check is not an endorsement, technical assessment or guarantee of a surveyor’s work.
